COVID-19 slowed communications and contact among the people in the DR, yet 2555 eye exams were still done in the clinic supported by HASTEN. Just as in the US, actual church attendance where people gathered in groups dropped off from 78 in 2019 to 16. Dr. Peña has the hope that he will be able to provide video of church services to people who can’t attend and medical updates to patients. He reports that finances are tight and welcomes prayers for their work and the people they serve. Shown here is a church gathering.
