Yesterday The Miami Herald reported on the release of two of the hostages who were captured by a notorious gang for ransom several weeks ago. They are missionaries from Mennonite church in Ohio who had been working for an orphanage in Haiti. Although they are not part of HASTEN’s work in Haiti, we remain concerned for the 15 people who remain hostages. The Christian Aid Ministries that is associated with the Mennonites asked for prayers: “We are still waiting for the group to be released. We request continued prayer for the kidnappers, that God would soften their hearts and that they would experience His love and goodness. As you pray, remember the millions of Haitians who are suffering through a time of serious upheaval and unrest. We desire that God would be their ‘refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’ Psalm 46:1.”
